Un-plug/plumb white goods.
Standard operating procedure for a professional removal company when it comes to white goods are as follow:
Electrical:
- Any white goods that are plugged in and can be easily accessed will be unplugged and moved by the removal team.
- Any plug that must be taken off in order to free the appliance from installed kitchen units or any other reason has to be done by a qualified electrician and not the removal team.
- Any appliance that was hard wired into the mains must be removed by a qualified electrician before the removal team can handle it.
- As a removal company we seldom have a qualified electrician/ plumber as part of the crew, therefore we are advised by our public/employers liability insurance company not to undertake these activities in case they don’t go as planned.
Plumbing:
- Any white goods that are plumbed in must be disconnected by the client or a qualified plumber before being moved by the removal team. If the client wants the removal team to remove any plumbing it has to be easily accessible and the client has to close the “stopcock” prior to uncoupling the pipes.
- Any plumbing that has to be taken off in order to free the appliance from installed kitchen units or any other reason has to be done by a qualified plumber and not the removal team.
- As a removal company we seldom have a qualified electrician/ plumber as part of the crew, therefore we are advised by our public/employers liability insurance company not to undertake these activities in case they don’t go as planned.
Please take not that the removal company will not reconnect or re-plumb any white goods at the destination address.
